Simple
Truths
Just as each one of us has a worldview, these are the basic beliefs that shape how we write and what topics we cover.
We each have a worldview, a set of beliefs, assumptions and convictions that governs how we see the world.
Here’s ours.
These are the basic beliefs that shape how we write and what topics we cover. They’re not a secret. These simple truths help form the basis for how we see the world.
The world had a beginning, and it has a Creator.
- Despite what we may try to tell ourselves, we all instinctively know it’s true. It’s obvious from observation and from reason.
- Science has helped us see that the universe, unlike what scientists used to think, did in fact have a beginning.
- From the vast complexity of life to how conditions on earth, in the solar system, and the galaxy all just so happen to be finely tuned for life to be possible on earth, we really have no excuse not to acknowledge a powerful and intelligent Creator.
If the universe has a Creator, then He has the right to decide what is true. We do not.
- Truth is objective. That is, it is fixed, and exists regardless of how we feel.
- To say there is no objective truth, or that objective truth is not knowable, is to make an objective claim of truth. It is self-refuting.
- Just because we want something to be true does not make it so. That would be the definition of what we call “subjective” truth. It is also a conflicting term. Think of it this way. If I believed with all my heart that the Statue of Liberty does not exist – that this is “my truth” – would I be right? Of course not. You could show me pictures of the Statue of Liberty. You could take me to it. But in doing so, you would be saying that I’m wrong. Your saying I’m wrong is to say there is objective truth, and that it is knowable. Otherwise, how could you know that I’m wrong?
There is good and evil.
- We may disagree on what is good and what is evil, but we know both exist. But, how can we know that something is evil, unless we acknowledge a moral standard of some kind?
- Only if there is a “moral law” can there be good or evil.
No one is perfect. We’ve all sinned. (And we know it.)
- We may say that “nobody’s perfect.” And it’s true. But it doesn’t let us off the hook for being responsible for our actions.
- And because of that, we all need a Savior. Nothing we do can make us right with God. We have to rely on His grace.
The Bible is trustworthy.
- We take it on faith, but also on reason and other evidence.
- Science is not at odds with Scripture. On the contrary, it has only served to prove its accuracy.
- Many a man has tried to disprove it. None has.
- It is the inspired and true word of God.
- It is the basis of the Christian worldview.
Throughout our content, you’ll see 3 main themes repeated consistently. They are our encouragement to you. Our plea in the midst of this decaying culture.
- Don’t be deceived.
- Check things out for yourself.
- Hold to the Truth of Scripture.
Though chaos rages all around, you don’t have to be swept up in it. Protect yourself by standing on the Truth.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
